Facility Notes
The pool was built for the 1930 British Empire Games, which were hosted by Hamilton. It’s a beautiful pool, great art deco architecture, unfortunately money problems forced the city to install a dropped ceiling - old pictures show an amazing look!
Facility Reviews
An older facility but clean and well-maintained. No ropes between lanes for lap swimming period and swimming is completely open (no requirement to circle swim). This did not cause problems when I was there, as there were only a few people in the pool. Lack of ropes and the older, high-side design of the pool made for choppy water. The lap swimming schedule is rather restricted. The water temperature was pleasant. There are no lockers; clothes and personal items may be put in basket and checked with an attendant.
