Facility Reviews
At the outset of my visit (11am on a weekday morning) about 5 metres of the shallow end was roped off for instruction of school parties, necessitating my turning against the rope: a far from satisfactory arrangement for a moderately serious lap swimmer. The transverse rope was removed after about 20 minutes. Although the pool was not then roped for lap swimming, the number of swimmers was sufficiently small so as not to impair the concluding parts of my 1,800 metre swim: I was able to follow the same stripe throughout.
Not a destination pool to go out of your way to visit, but satisfactory if you happen to find yourself in this fairly remote part of Northern Ireland. Alternatively, if either you feel up to braving the cold water or have a wetsuit with you, you might prefer to take an open water dip in the Irish Sea which is barely a quarter of a mile away.
This facility has both gender specific locker rooms (lockers in these rooms require a refundable deposit of a 20p coin) and a mixed gender changing village with individual cubicles (lockers in this area require a refundable deposit of a £1 coin).
