Important Notice Please Read

Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times or when Senior Aerobics classes are held; we cannot tell you about the availability or cost of swimming lessons; we cannot get you discounted admission to swim at any of them; and we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their admission policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites and Facebook pages, clickable email addresses, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in the site is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editor becomes aware of a change, but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about seven years to complete; in many places, prices will change four or five times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. (No, it's not a place for you to ask us questions. What we have in each listing is the latest news we have.)

Also, please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with the area and visiting for the first time. Just go to the Add a Pool section of the site, read the first page, then fill out the questionnaire.

Facility Notes

The unique pillars that support the pool structure and other architectural features of this amazing facility that are mentioned in the November, 2018, Review, below, can be seen in the photos associated with the Targeted Google Map link, above. (When we added this note, there were 193 photographs shown, many of them repetitive and in need of a good culling; the first four or five, however, give a good idea of the features the reviewer was writing about.)

Facility Reviews

It’s a giant facility and the ground floor door is not well marked. There are several indoor pools on the roof, brand-new with good light. It is an amazing scene of kids, seniors, classes with euro-disco music. It appears that lap swim is available almost all day and night. Check the website that has updated PDFs. Clean water and refundable €1 lockers. Footwear and caps are required, but the rule appears not to be well enforced.
This is a great lap pool with convenient hours and a central location. Perfect.

Many come to Bilbao for the Guggenheim, but do not come without visiting this most spectacular municipal pool anywhere. Located in a new building built inside an old shell, you enter at the corner and walk straight through the huge lobby to the ticket desk marked by red and blue lights. One the way, notice the unique pillars, each designed by a different artist/architect. Up to the third floor vestuarios (changing rooms), which are a vision in slate and wood. Deposit a Euro coin to release key to a locker and retrieve the coin when you return the key. The keys come attached to a plastic bracelet designed to fit your wrist; mine slipped off so I secreted it elsewhere. Then, find the separate stairs/lift up to the stunning fourth floor pools. On a November weekday, there were two or three swimmers per lane, but all politely waited at ends for me to pass. The water's a good temperature for distance swimming. Note windows in the bottom of the warm pool to let light down to third floor.
