Important Notice Please Read

Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times or when Senior Aerobics classes are held; we cannot tell you about the availability or cost of swimming lessons; we cannot get you discounted admission to swim at any of them; and we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their admission policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites and Facebook pages, clickable email addresses, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in the site is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editor becomes aware of a change, but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about seven years to complete; in many places, prices will change four or five times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. (No, it's not a place for you to ask us questions. What we have in each listing is the latest news we have.)

Also, please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with the area and visiting for the first time. Just go to the Add a Pool section of the site, read the first page, then fill out the questionnaire.

Facility Notes

The facility, which was built in the 1930s, was part of an £11 million redevelopment project completed in 2010 that also included the construction of 37 "luxury loft apartments"; the money wasn't all spent on the leisure centre and pool, but a lot of it must have been.
NOTE: Site users from outside the United Kingdom may find that their access to the facility's everyoneActive.com web page has been blocked. Users who have access to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can circumvent the block by setting their VPN Region to The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. (We assume that the hackers whom everyoneActive is trying to block can do this as easily as we have, and we question what purpose is served by making things difficult for their foreign visitors.)

Facility Reviews

A jewel of a pool in the heart of London, a short walk from Carnaby St. Permanent slow, medium and fast lanes allow relatively stress-free overtaking. A long, narrow, open-plan changing area/showers (for the men, at least) has generous lockers. The hairdryer is pathetic and the loos have little privacy; otherwise it works well.
Specially overcrowded weekdays at mid-day and from 5 to 6:30 PM; out of those time frames, the pool is surprisingly (for London) empty.
Nice pool with three wide lanes. The water and ambient temperatures are on the cold side and and showers, too, or at least a few of them. They often reserve lanes for groups from 8 PM so you're left with one, two, or none.
[March, 2013]
The pool is a gem, but the cramped changing room facilities, which were part of the recent renovation, seemed to have been designed by someone who has never set foot in a gym or a swimming pool.
[October, 2013]
Delighted to see this beautiful marble-lined pool (in which I regularly swam some 40 years ago) back as a public facility, now as then heavily used by the large numbers of workers in the heart of London's West End. The pool is of a now largely superseded length (100 Imperial feet): 33 lengths approximates to 1,000 metres. Good lane discipline observed. The men's locker room is reasonably well appointed but a little cramped when the pool is crowded (as it can be at lunchtimes). Lockers require a £1 coin (refundable).
[February, 2014]
This is a delightful pool: Elegant marble; clean; a perfect temperature; and with three very wide lanes that make it easy to pass. The women's changing room is just fine, with private showers, good lighting, and suit dryers. I love this pool in heart of Piccadilly. If taking the Tube, use Exit 1 at Piccadilly Circus.
[September, 2017]
The locker system referred to in the February, 2014 review, above, has now been changed. Be sure to take a padlock with you.
[September, 2018]
It's padlocks only for the lockers, now. That, coupled with the £7 admission charge and the fact that there is no "T" on the bottom at the ends of the lanes, which ensures you see the angels at least twice a swim from hitting your heels on the lovely marble edging on the pool, you might want to check out Oasis Sports Centre for out-of-towners.
