Facility Notes
The Borgarnes regional municipality has two other 25 meter swimming pools, one in Varmaland, which can be seen on Google Maps HERE, and the other in Kleppjárnsreykir, which can be seen here HERE. Unfortunately, those pools operate only in the summer months (June, July, and August), so they don't qualify for their own listings. Admission prices are the same as for the Borgarnes pool.
Facility Reviews
The pool has long open hours, no swim cap requirement, and no swim suit styles are officially forbidden. The water is very clean; it's bare feet only beyond the pile of shoes at the entry to the locker room. The pool's extraordinary standards for swimmer hygiene are illustrated in detail on the walls. Use soap suds on your head, your armpits, your crotch, your hands, and your feet. Free lockable lockers are provided and there is no way to use your own lock.
There's an indoor pool here; it contains no water, but appears very clean. Rather scenic fjord views from the lap pool. It's walking distance to "downtown" Borgarnes.
