Facility Notes
The swimming pool at Bowling has been specifically designed to provide improved facilities for users with impaired mobility. It has sloped access into the pool, and the water is heated to around 32ºC or 33ºC for extra comfort. Bowling also has a pool hoist and special parking bays.
NOTE: When we reviewed this listing in October, 2021, when lane reservations were required due to COVID, the pool's web page indicated that there were "Adult Only" lane swimming sessions on offer several times, over the course of the week. When we went to the booking website, the only lane swimming options were designated "Women Only".
Facility Reviews
Because there is only one lane available, lane etiquette goes out of the window.
The situation has improved; there are now three lanes: one for good swimmers, one for average, and one for the disabled or those with learning difficulties.
Unfortunately, having three lanes doesn’t stop people from stopping in the middle of the lane; doesn’t keep non-swimmers out of the ‘good swimmers lane’; and doesn’t stop people from swimming in the wrong direction. Lifeguards see but do nothing.
